Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering  celebrates 60th establishment day on Nov 1

Pune: Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN), a Centralised Training Institute of Indian Railways, will be celebrating its 60th IRICEN day on November 1. 

MK Gupta, Member, Engineering Railway Board, will be the chief guest of the occasion. The General Manager, Central Railways, DK Sharma, and many other officials from Indian Railways will be present.

The IRICEN imparts one-and-half-year long rigorous training to the IRSE (Indian Railway Service of Engineers) officers recruited by UPSC. 

In addition, number of special courses are conducted to upgrade/refresh knowledge of civil engineers working in the field.

The IRICEN, located in an environment-friendly platinum-rated green building having the feature to save energy, water, etc, is equipped with necessary equipment and facilities to impart a high level of training. 

This institute had conducted 172 courses to train 3,842 trainees (about 17 per cent increase over the previous year during 2016-2017).

On this occasion, a seminar on the subjects “To ensure safety during track maintenance – innovative ideas”, “Modernisation of track Maintenance” and “Rationalisation of engineering organisation at divisional level to increase effectiveness,” is also being organised. 

The thoughts presented during the seminar will guide Indian Railways in years to come. During the function, Silver Jubilee (1991) batch officers of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) cadre, who are completing 25 years of service in Indian Railways, will be felicitated. 

A number of trophies and medals will also be awarded to officers, who have excelled in various training courses held during past one year.
